A real estate bubble is an economic condition favoring the real estate sector. Real estate markets witness on and off real estate bubbles. Some bubbles may last long, and some may last for a very brief period.

During a real estate bubble, a lot of things buying and selling of property happens. People are more optimistic of the economy and find it safe to invest in real estate. Their logic is based on the hope that property prices will appreciate and so will demand for property.

But there’s a problem here. Although real estate prices may appreciate, it is not necessary that demand appreciates. Demand is based on the liquidity in the consumer market. If people are skeptical of the economy they will not go to the bank and take a home loan or a property loan. Also, banks might have bad debts, which will deter them from handing over loans for property or home unless an initial deposit is made.

Real estate is just one of investment categories. It should not be the main investment. Many people make the mistake of investing only in real estate. When there is a case of negative real estate bubble, the property value gathers moth. There would not be any utility for the property.

When investing in real estate it is important to understand the need. If the investment is for a home, then it’s OK. If it is for only investment purposes, care has to be taken. Investing in property might not fetch returns as predicted, unless a predicted real estate bubble is round the corner.

No one can deny it, times are tough on everyone. Times are especially tough for families who were already struggling. If you are part of a low income family, you may not be aware there are organizations which can lend a hand in these tough economic times.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army operates across the entire United States. Their programs available for low income families include the following.

Housing and homeless services to provide emergency housing

Food and nutrition programs which provide food for those in need

Christmas charity, which provides Christmas dinners, clothing and toys for those families who cannot afford them

Goodwill

Goodwill plays an important role in providing people across America with the skills to better their life, regardless of their socio-economic background. Their programs designed to help low income families to increase employment options include the following.

Job training and employment placement

Free classes in reading and English as a Second Language (ESL)

Financial aid for education

Medicaid

For low income families in the United States help is available to gain access to health care services. Medicaid is a federal-state run means tested program which supports low income families and their children, as well as people with a disability and the elderly. It also supports pregnant women with a low income. The eligibility requirements differ from state to state, however the primary requirements for Medicaid eligibility include the following.

Having limited assets

Age

Income and resources

Residential status

Disability

Pregnancy

Being a child

When times are tough financially, it is good to know what programs are available in case you require some assistance.

When wanting a new wallet, most people did not know which brand they should choose despite the fact there are many types of wallets that they could buy according to their desires. At this point, their confusion was understandable, because out there, there are many types of wallets that are sold freely on the market, where each brand is claimed to have its own advantages when compared with other brands.

But perhaps at the same time, we can consider to use aluma wallet as an object which would accompany our daily activities. The latter has many advantages compared with the other. Such product claimed to be waterproof, made of aluminum (or more precisely die-cast aluminum), and has a slim shape. If you are skeptical about the durability, you can glance at a number of reviews on such products that currently can be easily searched with the help of the Internet. A review, of course, would make you fell more confident of the many choices each of which offered to you, right?

However, we may notice that because of these advantages, it is no wonder if aluma wallet has been referred as the best product of its kind. With a variety of attractive colors, and also with the price which quite cheap (only $ 10.99), you can get a wallets made from high quality materials.

Deciding to lend a helping hand to those in need is a wonderful act. Each community finds people that have fallen on hard times. They cannot provide the basic items they need to survive. No matter what has placed them in that position, their needs outweigh their means. Daily life is a struggle. They seek shelter. Helping out at a local homeless shelter is a good thing.

The main reasons that have contributed to the rise in homelessness over the last two decades are poverty and lack of affordable housing. When employment opportunities are slim, cuts in pay or benefits can make a dent in one’s financial security. Sometimes the financial load grows to large and sets an unfortunate chain of events in motion. Homes can become foreclosed on, leaving people in need of somewhere to live. Some of those displaced from difficult circumstances find themselves at a shelter.

By choosing to volunteer your time to assist at a local shelter, you are providing an invaluable source of help to these organizations. Many shelters are run by non-profit agencies and community churches. Whether you serve a hot meal, help someone with their resume, or perform light office filing, you are making a difference. If you are able to donate time, see which shelters are in your area.

People are busy. Sometimes finding time can be a challenge. Shelters are constantly in need of basic items such as shampoo, razors, toothbrushes and shaving cream. These gifts are accepted with gratitude. Another unfortunate aspect of homelessness are the children affected. Shelter life can be hard for a child. Donations of diapers, children’s multi-vitamins and clothing are priceless.

Promoting a charity event is an important part of the planning process. However, not every planning committee has the resources or funds to spend a lot on promotional tools. Luckily, organizers have the ability to utilize cost-effective ways to promote the event and raise the public’s awareness about the non-profit or charitable cause.

As a non-profit committee, if you are brainstorming ways to promote a charity event, here are some cost-effective ideas you can use.

Flyer Distribution

Flyers can be printed in bulk for a low cost. These can be used for a blitz campaign and passed out to people as they walk by, sent out to a mailing list, or placed in stores and on bulletin boards.

Social Media

Word travels fast when it comes to social media. Creating a Facebook page or Twitter account will help get the word out there about the charity event as people share the information and link with their friends and family members.

Community Newspapers/Radio Shows

Local community newspapers and radio shows offer advertising space for a very low price. Placing an ad through these media outlets allows the organization to attract the attention of the public, without having to spend a lot on advertising space.

Sponsorships

Ask for sponsorships from corporations or local celebrities. This will allow you to bring in a larger audience because there are more resources that you can use to get the word out there for the event.

Even with all this promotion, remember to sell tickets to the event. This is a great way to raise money for the location, prizes and even the charitable cause the event is held for.

A homeless shelter is a place for homeless or displaced peoples to stay temporarily. Typically, such shelters are only available during the night and the residents are to spend their time elsewhere during the day. In Victorian era London, two of the earliest examples of what we would call homeless shelters became known as the penny sit-up and the four penny coffin.

The penny sit-up was a shelter in which the homeless could pay a penny to sit indoors, out of the elements. For their penny, patrons got a seat on a bench and not much else. Some penny sit-ups provided food, but sometimes it was just the bench that people could sit on during the night. They, however, were not allowed to lie down and sleep on the bench though presumably they were free to sleep sitting up.

The penny sit-up provided only a bench, warmth, and usually a little food. What was termed the four penny coffin – or coffin house – provided food and a place to lie down and sleep. People paid a small amount and, for the night, they received shelter, food, a simple wooden, coffin-like box, and a tarp for covering. Some organizations provided actual beds, but at higher prices.

By today’s standards, these shelters are considered largely inadequate or harsh. In their day though, they were economical and even compassionate. Many were run by the Salvation Army – an organization that continues to provide for the homeless and displaced today. Though nowadays, the Salvation Army generally doesn’t rent out a coffin and tarp for a night’s use.

Shelters are there to help people that are down on their luck and need a hand up. Shelters offer food and clothing to people when they come in. For the shelters to keep helping they need to take in daily donations from the good people in the communities they operate in. Shelters need the support of the community to thrive and help out those who are in need.

Some shelters are run by churches and offer counseling to the people that seek it out. If you have ever been in one of these shelters you may have noticed that they are kept really clean. Sometimes these shelters are kept up better than other shelters, because the church members have a hand in them. Church member also go there to donate their time to be a good a Samaritan to their fellow man. If you are part of a church you can ask your spiritual leader if your church runs a shelter or anything like it.

Shelters need help from everyone in the community to work well. Even boy scouts can help out by preparing meals and serving the homeless. Anyone looking to do god’s work can volunteer their time to a shelter and help people. Most of the people in a shelter just want a bed for the night and hot food to eat so they are not so hungry. Some of the people will sit and listen to what is being preached and may even join in to add their colorful version to the story.

You may be surprised to find out that the cost of living in the United States is much lower than other places in the world. Take England for example – the cost of living there is higher, mainly because the nation has to import a lot of their supplies. England has always been good with trading, but cannot compete with the natural resources in America. America does not have to import as much so many items costs less.

The one resource that America does not have in abundance of right now is oil. The price of oil is what keeps our commodities from being really cheap. It costs suppliers to ship and package their products and that cost is dependent on oil. If oil dropped in price then everything in America would drop in price as well, because we have lots of everything. The economy would do much better if the price of oil dropped.

Even though oil costs as much as it does Americans still live in a country were commodities are really cheap. Only a few handfuls of countries that are developed have such cheap prices. Third world countries have a lower standard of living, but also provide some of the same products at a lower price. Land is cheaper in other counties, because they have not built the same infrastructure that Americans have. Most of the available land in American can have water, power, and a road built to it with relative ease. Other countries may have to build entire pipelines and power stations to do the same.

The Chinese deliberately make their currency lower on the exchange rate than what it really should be. Their economy is roaring and gets larger every year without a change in the rate that it’s developing. Why would any economy make their currency worth less than it really is? One of the reasons is that the Chinese economy is tied so closely to the U.S. economy that if the Yen where to ever rise in value then both economies might plummet.

The United States does the same thing to a certain extent, but instead of lowering the value of its currency we make less of the products that we export. This makes what we export worth more, because there is still a high demand for it just less of the supply. Take corn for example we have the ability to grow corn for everyone in the nation at a cheaper price than we are paying for it now. If we were to start growing corn like that then the price would bottom out and corn would be worthless. It makes more since to make less of the product so it can cover the cost of producing corn.

The way the Chinese does business and the way the United States does business are very different. The two economies are the most powerful in the world and soon China will overtake the U.S. economy. The Chinese are just being polite and allowing the transition to happen slowly. If they allowed their currency to be worth what it really is then the U.S. economy would never catch up.

There are always ups and downs in every nation’s economy history just happen to be in one of the down moments for America. It is not necessarily a bad thing that we are in the low spot right now it just means everything has a little less value. The economy is doing really bad when it seems like nobody can get work and everyone is waiting in line to get fed. We are not in that position and America may be on its way there, but we have the knowledge to keep it from happening.

During the great depression none of the banks had any money because everyone was pulled out what was in their savings. There was no confidence in the market anymore and everyone was scared. This actually made the depression worse, because no confidence in money meant that the money everyone used had no value. Today we still hold value to the dollar, because it still costs money to buy a gallon of gas. If gasoline were to ever drop in price then the dollar might as well.

Our economy is not built on the gold standard and hasn’t been for years. The one thing every business needs to operate is oil. We are on an oil standard and if the price of oil rises then the value of a dollar goes down. The value goes down, because every company relies on oil in some way to do business directly or indirectly. You can start worrying about the economy when the price for a barrel of oil tops one hundred dollars and stays there. When oil prices raise then the cost of doing business will rise too and the dollar will drop in value.

When you are going to buy a home even a cheap home you want to be very picky with what you end up with. A home is a lasting investment and you need to treat your buying options like an investment opportunity. You don’t want an investment that seems to be run down and going to cost you money. You want an investment that is easy to make money from so you can get into a better investment. People look at homes as a place to live when they need to look at them as something to sell to get into the home they really want to live in.

If you look at your options of buying a new home like an investment opportunity then you will start to notice some things that bother you. It’s a good thing to notice things that you don’t like about the property. As long as you are keeping in mind to sell the home later on you cannot make a bad choice. A good home investment will have the qualities that make it easy to improve on.

If your perspective home is sitting on a lot of land then you could build on the land to make it more valuable. If the home is in a neighborhood that is growing then the investment will likely grow as well. The structure should be in good shape and need little to no repairs before you buy it. If you have to put money into repairing the building then you need to take that out of the price of the home. Even if the home is already priced for repairs negotiate the price further to the level you feel comfortable with.

Pre paid cell phones are offering the homeless of New York the chance to be heard through an innovative project aimed at raising social awareness.

The Underheard in New York project is offering Internet users across the globe the chance to gain insights into life on the streets as seen from the point of view of those who live it.

Organized by a team of interns from the Barle Bogle Hegarty advertising agency, the Underheard in New York project was born of a challenge set by their supervisors to “do something good, famously.”

With a budget of just $1,000 the three twenty-somethings planned to give a voice to the homeless of New York, using the micro-blogging site Twitter. The team used its money to buy and credit four prepaid cell phones, which they then gave out to four willing volunteers selected from the Big Apple’s homeless population.

The men, who were to become the voices of not only the project but of the city’s homeless population as a whole, were given instructions on how to operate the handsets and create Twitter profiles that would be visible to a worldwide audience.

All that was asked in return was that they share their experiences through the popular social networking site. Volunteers Albert (@albert814), Carlos (@jessie550), Danny (@putodanny), and Derrick (@awitness2011) now Tweet daily on their trials and triumphs giving the global community an authentic glimpse of the reality of homelessness in one of the world’s most famous cities.

Intern Willy Wang, who was a part of the group behind the Underheard in New York project, said that the idea was to give a voice to people whose circumstances had forced them into silence. His colleague Robert Weeks expressed a hope that similar projects would follow their model to allow more people to be heard.

When you go out to look for a new home there are some things that you should remember to look for. The first thing to look in a new home is if the price matches up with the property. If the property is very well taken care of and there seems to be no damage to the main buildings and the price is low it might be too good of a deal. Bring in everybody that you can before you take the plunge and invest in a home.

If the price doesn’t seem to match up with the property you need to ask why. You need to bring in inspectors of every kind to look the house over from top to bottom to see if major repairs need to be done. Delve into the past of the house and see if there is money owed on it somewhere or anything that would be the cause of a low price. Try to satisfy all your questions with the home before you buy it.

You should not be in a rush to buy a home when you rush you leave yourself open to make mistakes. When it comes to homes people can make a lot of mistakes and your job is to hire the people to find those mistakes. Once you have look at the home in every light possible and it looks good and solid to you then you can go into the buying process. It doesn’t matter if the home owner is happy with the purchase it matters if you are happy with it. You are the one paying lots of money for a home and the seller is the one who is getting lots of money. Make sure that you are happy with every aspect of a home and if you are not then move to the next one.

There are a lot of homes in America right now waiting to be bought by anyone that has some money in their pocket. This economy is a buyer’s dream world right now and everyone is able to get what they want in a home. If you are looking for cheap affordable housing then you’re in luck. You happen to be looking at the best time in the nation’s history for a new place to call home. All homes are being sold at rock bottom prices right now and you will never get a chance like this again to get into something that s

You have a great choice in homes to buy right now and you can get a home with more features than you would have been able to afford in the past. The housing market five years ago was a seller’s market and everyone who was selling a home was selling it for more than they bought it for the year before. A lot of people where buying homes sitting on them and waiting for their price to rise before they sold them again. It was like playing hot potato with the banks and eventually a lot of people got burned.

When the housing bubble popped many people where stuck with homes that they expected to grow in price. These people are now trying to sell their homes before they go into foreclosure. This is where you come in with the little bit of change in your pocket. You can wait for the home to go into foreclosure and be sold on the market by the bank. You will get the home for much cheaper than the original home owners where asking, but you will have to wait longer to move in. Hopefully the home wasn’t destroyed before the home owners moved out. Many people have lost their homes due to the economy and have resorted in tearing out the walls so the banks have to sell at a loss.

There are many people in need in the world today. You frequently hear about those who live in poverty in other countries, but the question sometimes arises: What about people in the U.S. who are struggling? What about those who are living in homeless shelters, or even worse, on the streets? How can you help these people? There are many ways to help, and microgiving, or crowd funding, is a way to help many people who need it, even if you don’t have much to spare yourself.

There are many options when you consider microgiving. Through companies such as microgiving.com, you can find individuals or companies that are looking for donations. Many of the needs relate to charity projects or the economic crisis. For example, you may find a family that is struggling to pay a mortgage because the parents lost their jobs. By donating just a little bit of money, generally as little as $5 or $10, you can help these people get back on their feet. The company also does everything that it can, including requesting paperwork to verify the economic crisis, to verify that you are helping real people with a real problem.

Another way that you can help out is by donating to a charity project through crowd funding. There are many people putting together charity projects to help fund projects such as public parks or community gardens. Maybe an old park needs updated playground equipment for the children in the area. By donating, you are helping the neighborhood thrive. Some, though not all, charity projects to which you can donate may be tax deductible, as well.

Helping people, whether a family in an economic crisis or through a charitable organization, is a growing trend. With more and more people finding out about things like crowd funding, the world is becoming a more helpful place. The more people give, the better the world will be.

Homeless shelters are there for anyone that needs to use them for safety from the cold or an abusive situation. If you or someone you know is being abused then a shelter may be the answer for temporary sanctuary. Every life has its struggles and when your life is going through a hard spot you need to find someone that will help you. If you have a child with you and you are going through an abusive time in your life you need to get away for the sake of the child.

Children that are abused show aggressive tendencies when they grow into adulthood. When a child is subjected to abuse they may take on these traits when they have relationships of their own. Not every child lashes out like this when they grow up, but the majorities do. When a child comes from a very abusive household they have a higher chance of showing these traits. It is almost guaranteed that a child will grow up to be violent if they are subjected to abuse every day. The child will either be violent to themselves or with the people they have a relationship with.

If you are a mother and you are being mistreated and your child is being mistreated then you have the responsibility to move out and seek shelter. You do not deserve to be abuse and your child does not have to grow up seeing that. There is a better situation out there for you, but you will not be able to see it if you don’t leave. Take the first step in the right direction with your life and leave. Cut your losses and take your child with you and seek out a better place to live. No human being needs to be abused and if you are being abused then know that there are people, who have been in the same situation willing to help you.

In many places around the world, people go without basic necessities every day. Anything ranging from food, to medicine, to even a safe place to live cannot be found, and the same goes for clothing. Blake Mycoskie, a philanthropist who starred in the Amazing Race and founded Toms Shoes, has traveled the world and seen the living conditions that people face every day. In a small village in Argentina, people didn’t even have shoes in many cases, but those who did gave him an idea that became the foundation for a multinational company.

The concept of espadrilles shoes, also known as alpargata, sparked an idea, and Mycoskie added rubber soles, leather inside the shoe, and attractive designs for the outside. Although the generous idea of selling products in exchange for a donation is not new, Toms Shoes takes the idea to a new level by donating a pair of shoes to people in need of them every time somebody buys a pair. Also, whenever someone buys a t-shirt, sticker, jacket, cap, hoodie, or gift pack, Toms Shoes donates a pair of modified espradille shoes.

Children worldwide face impoverished conditions that they have no control over. People like Blake Mycoskie have the opportunity to change lives for the better. The world would certainly be in much worse shape than it is today without such philanthropists. Essential help is provided at the corporate, retail, and charity level. It is possible to combine all three, because Toms Shoes can be found in different stores and in many different countries, including Australia, Germany, Japan, Scotland, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, not to mention online. Toms Shoes began out of a loft in California, and now Blake Mycoskie has the chance to make a positive impact in the world where it is needed the most.

You can make money not matter what kind of state the economy is in. If you can move and work with your hands and think with your brain you can make money. There is always work out there that needs to be done you just have to put forth the effort to find it. It gets hard trying to find work and if you are not finding any work with the question you are continually asking then it’s time to change your questions.

Try a different approach to the job sector if you are not able to find a job the way you are looking right now. Instead of trying to find a job to work for someone start working for yourself and start making your own product. You don’t need thousands of workers and a whole industry complex to make money by producing a product. A bum on the street can make money by selling twisted pieces of tin that he made into artwork. If a bum can make money in this economy you can make money the only thing that is keeping you from a dollar is you.

You might need to make more than just a few bucks a day with all of your living expenses, but the point is to start making money. Making a few bucks here and there is better than sitting around doing nothing to help your situation. The economy isn’t bad just people’s view on the economy. So what if the largest economy in the world slows down it doesn’t mean that anyone is stopping you from making a buck. Use your imagination and put your abilities to the test and try to find out what you can sell or do to make some cash.

Low-income housing takes many forms and many names, but once you find it you will know that it’s low-income housing. Most people think that low-income housing brings crime and people with bad habits to a community. Some of this is true because people with bad habits can’t hold on to money and they are always spending it. The reason for low-income housing is to help families that find themselves in a hard spot or other people in the same situation. It is to help the good people get out of bad situation – not for bad people to live easily.

Crime comes with opportunity and those that do not work hard seek out the opportunity to live a work free life. Everyone does not want to work their lives away, but we live in a society where we have to shoulder the burden of labor in order to survive. America is a place for people to live peacefully not for people who do bad to live better. If any bad behaviors are found in a low-income housing community then those people usually don’t have a place to stay there for long.

Crime happens in every community with all the people that live in the United States you are bound to get some bad eggs. The reason why you might see more crime in low-income housing communities is because it attracts people with bad behaviors as well as the good people trying to make their lives better. If you are about to move into or looking at living in a low-income house community then be aware of your surroundings and the people around you, but remember that there are lots of good people there too.

Low-income housing is for anyone that is struggling to make the bills and trying to find shelter. Anyone that is making over the maximum amount for low income housing does not qualify for it. These housing programs are made for people that are having a very hard time to find any stable home situation. It’s not made for people that want to save money or have the means to make do without help. Your financial situation will be combed over to find out if you qualify or not. Some assets may disqualify you from achieving low-income housing.

What you have in the bank will not necessarily show if you are able to live in low-income housing. How much you get paid or how much federal aid you are receiving from the government will play a role in being qualified. If you have any stocks or bonds they will also be taken in account if you are qualified or not. The income from other members of your household will also be taken into account. The combined income cannot exceed the maximum amount allowed in low-income housing. If you are a few dollars over the amount limit something may be able to be worked out with the program.

Low-income housing is good for people that are currently in school, this will play a major role in if they are accepted. Student grants may or may not play a role in acceptability; it all depends on their fanatical situation. If the student is receiving money from a trust fund it will be taken into account for qualification as well. A student’s trust fund cannot exceed the limit of the maximum accepted amount for low-income housing. A low-income housing program can be very easy to navigate through and the stress level can be high based on if you are accepted or not. Bring all of the required documents and fill out the application in the time allowed. If you do not have your paper work on time the program may give it to someone else in need.

Have you ever driven by a smaller urban city that is a known low income area and noticed huge mini-mansions randomly placed in the middle of the city? While this might seem out of character for the area that you are in, there is actually a reason behind this type of building. It is known as gentrification. Gentrification is the process of middle income families or high income families taking property that is usually in a lower income city and renovating it with the hopes of improving the area and increasing incomes and rents in the area. However, if gentrification is not done properly, it could have adverse effects on the community.

Gentrification might sound like a good idea with good intentions but it can really have some bad consequences. When lower income areas start to have increased rents and cost of living, those that are of a lower socio-economic status cannot afford to live in the area and are forced out of the area. This forced eviction of lower income families causes the families to move to other low income cities, which can often times increase the violence, gangs, and drug dealing that happens in that area.

To prevent gentrification from happening on a grand scale many cities are starting to develop property management companies. These companies closely monitor the types of buildings and income levels that are moving into a lower income area. They regulate what can and cannot be built to ensure that there is no major shift in the area which can cause increases in gangs and violence in surrounding areas.

One of the most popular cities that regulates and controls city planning is San Diego. The various San Diego property management companies will regulate and protect areas from having such a sudden change. This eliminates the risk for areas having a surge of violence or drug dealing in surrounding areas because of the socio-economic change in lower income areas.

Homelessness is often considered a problem in society and the society will want to eliminate this problem through programs. Some people call the programs social safety nets, but for anyone without a home it’s a God send. If you become homeless and cannot contact family or friends there is help for you out there. Churches are a great place to go if no one can help the situation you’re in. churches are full of caring people that offer a helping hand to lift you up out of your situation. The only reason why anyone would not go for help is because they are stubborn or they just don’t feel comfortable with it.

To be comfortable with going to a church for help, you need to understand that the people actually do care about the situation you’re in. They want to relieve your stress and help you get to a place that you can call home permanently. It hurts them to see people in such dire straits and they will do anything in their power to help them. The only thing you need to do is to allow these people to help you up. They may provide more than just shelter they may also provide clarity in your situation through past experience.

Know that no one is trying to change you or save you they just see a problem and want to help out in any way possible. For them to not be able to help you is a failure on their part and they view it as such. You may not understand this kind of thinking and it may seem straight out foreign to you. Just realize there is help waiting for you in the churches of your community. All you need to do is go to a church and find a member and ask for help. They may not know what to do, but they can show you to someone that can help you out. Churches can’t make the first step for you, you have to find it within yourself to ask for a hand up and some love.

Deciding to move from a house to an apartment can certainly be a difficult decision. It can certainly save money on rent or mortgage payments every month, but it can also be a big process to downsize possessions in order to fit into a smaller space. When packing and deciding what to keep, being aware of the storage in the new apartment is very important. Otherwise it could end up being very frustrating if the new space is simply too small.

As the process of downsizing from a home to an apartment begins, individuals should be very conscious of what items they need and those they simply no longer use. Clothing and other similar items that are rarely used can be sold, donated, or thrown away. Those who reside in larger homes often will notice that they have possessions they may not even remember accumulating. But this process is a great chance to go through all of the items in the home. Starting the process early enough will give a sense of freedom without feeling overwhelmed or rushed to get everything accomplished. For some people, it can even be fun to reminisce about memories associated with the items. Another option for downsizing is to add shelving and other storage items to the new closets, offering extra space and reducing the amount of clutter.

Moving from a house to an apartment can reduce time spent cleaning and organizing, save money, and even give family members a chance to spend more time with each other in a smaller space. Portland apartments offer affordable living in a smaller space, and renters can enjoy many benefits of living in apartment community, such as barbecue areas, swimming pools, and other fun outdoor activities, without having to worry about the upkeep of a home or yard.

Among the past couple of years in order to get consumer’s spending money, and move the economy into forward progression from the recession; a number of different government programs were started to save money in any way possible. The “Cash for Clunkers” program was signed into law in late June of 2009, and came into effect from July 27, 2009 to November 1, 2009; or when government funds were no longer available. This program, we’ll call it T.C.F.C, allowed vehicle owners to trade in vehicles that were not fuel-efficient for a certain amount of cash or credit for a vehicle better on gas. These cash vouchers were given to vehicle owners with vehicles less than 25 years old, got less than 18 miles per gallon and were purchasing or leasing a new vehicle. Vouchers given to consumers for bringing in their less fuel-efficient vehicles were between $3,500 to $4,500 and most consumers walked away with more savings from car dealerships adding more discounts to promote the government voucher; giving a consumer a deal that is likely not to be seen again in this lifetime. During the run of the “Cash for Clunkers” program almost 700 thousand fuel-efficient vehicles were purchased from consumers trading in vehicles that were paid on transactions as of November 10, 2009. With the soaring and unpredictable gas prices for the past couple of years, urging consumers to purchase fuel efficient cars was a smart move. This helped the vehicle consumer save gas; ultimately pocketing more money or using it for bills, and helped the government since more fuel efficient vehicles have been purchased gas consumption will be less. The significant amount of gas guzzling vehicles taken off of the roads will also prove better for the environment in many different ways, but how bad cars are for the environment is a discussion for another day.

Now, more than ever, families all over the world need adequate housing. Habitat for Humanity is an organization that provides housing for needy families, below certain income levels. Organizations like Habitat for Humanity couldn’t be available at a more opportune time with thousands upon thousands of families in the United States losing their homes.

According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, 95 million people have housing issues in the United States. These issues include home owner that have a mortgage too high for their income levels, over crowding problems, homelessness as well as housing that is inadequate to live or raise a family in. Habitat for Humanity is an organization that is providing adequate and affordable housing to people, not just in the United States, but around the world based on a families needs and ability to pay.

Habitat for Humanity and their efforts to provide adequate housing have improved the prevention of diseases, such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, diarrhea and malaria. The efforts of Habitat for Humanity also create better neighborhoods, which attract investment opportunities and provide stability and security for neighborhoods, that at one time, may have been considered unsalvageable.

When building houses, Habitat for Humanity uses volunteers from around the community in order to keep the cost of production low and housing more affordable. Habitat also requires any applicants that apply for a Habitat for Humanity home and accepted, to put in so many hours or “sweat-equity” building houses for others before getting a Habitat home of their own built. This contributes to a stronger community by helping others who are in financial crisis, and Habitat for Humanity rewards these efforts from others by providing them with a home as well, if needed. Making future homeowners work on their home as well as others around the community will develop pride in a community, knowing how hard they had to work to achieve what they now have.

Habitat for Humanity is an organization that builds housing for needy families, who fall below certain income levels, around the world. According to the Habitat for Humanity website 95 million Americans need housing based on a variety of different circumstances.

The first step in applying for a Habitat home is finding a local Habitat for Humanity office. This can be done online, or by calling the toll free number listed on the Habitat website. These resources will tell you how to apply as well as providing information on the types and pricing fo homes available in your area.

After submiting an application for a Habitat home certain qualifications must be met by the applicant. While qualifications differ from state to state and community and community, the most common qulifications that must be met are; legal residency, ability to afford a home, proven steady income and good credit.

Once accepted applicants must realize that their work is not over. Accepted applicants are required to maintain a savings account, provide an affordable down payment on a home, as well as complete “sweat-equity” hours on other Habitat for Humanity homes being built in the community; including their own. Applicants are also required to attend home ownership classes, preparing them for home ownership and what to expect. This class is a huge home owner asset, as most do not know what to expect when signing a contract on a home.

Habitat for Humanity, based on these qulifications, chooses what are called “partner families” who would be the best candidates for a habitat home. Habitat for Humanity doesn’t descriminate against race or religion when determining proper home applicants and are only selected based on need and ability to pay a mortgage. Habitat for Humanity helps families of all ages making this organization a much needed blessing in times of economic hardship and instability.

Habitat for Humanity is one of those well-known organizations that help people on a global scale. Relying solely on monetary and material donations and volunteer labor, Habitat for Humanity provides families with a basic human need—housing.

One misconception is that Habitat for Humanity is a giveaway program offering people free housing. This isn’t the case. Families must be able to pay a down payment and monthly mortgage, although that payment is generally well below the national average. The potential homeowners must also contribute to the building of their home by putting in so many hours of manual labor. They may also be encouraged to volunteer on the building sites of other Habitat families. Only families in extreme need of shelter can apply with their local Habitat organization, but they must be able to prove a steady income, have good credit and be US citizens. They must also attend homeowner education classes.

Those wishing to donate to Habitat can specify the project to which the donation is applied. Materials can also be donated to a specific project. Any donations that are undesignated will be used as each local branch of the organization sees fit.

There are several ways in which a volunteer can get involved. Contact any branch of the organization to inquire about need. Habitat has volunteer projects for women, youth ages 5 to 25, and even eligible prison inmates. Volunteer opportunities may be available in construction, Habitat’s home store, organizational offices, or group opportunities for churches or co-workers. Generally a one-hour volunteer orientation is required and potential volunteers must register for the orientation online or by calling the local volunteer services.

Many nonprofits have been challenged since the recession. Grant funding and donations have waned in some areas, causing some construction projects to cease. In a recession where housing has bottomed out and more and more families are in need of shelter, organizations like Habitat need contributions and volunteers now more than ever.

The need for affordable housing has dramatically increased since the recession began in December 2007. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides resources to homeowners in danger of foreclosure. It’s important to take action at the first sign of a financial problem before past-due amounts pile up out of control.

For anyone at risk of foreclosure, it’s important to contact a foreclosure avoidance counselor immediately. Don’t wait until you’re several months behind on your mortgage payment. Most counselors and even mortgage lenders are willing to work with you if you’re not too far behind in your bills. Informing your lender of any late payment, even if it’s the first one, is critical.

In some cases, you may be able to work out a refinance plan with your mortgage company. If you’re already behind in payments, they may be willing to negotiate a repayment plan of past-due amounts. Forbearance is also an agreement that could be considered in extreme cases—it allows you to pay a smaller percentage or even no payment at all for a specific time period. However, once the forbearance period is up, you must be able to continue making payments.

If you are in active duty military service you may want to look into specialized mortgage relief assistance. For non-military homeowners needing extra relief, website like HopeNow.com may be able to help.

Be prepared. Not everyone receives the assistance they expect, and selling your home may be the only option of avoiding foreclosure. Discuss a pre-foreclosure or short sale with your mortgage company. They may be willing to accept less of a payoff amount than you owe. They may also consider a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure, which simply means that you transfer the deed to your lender while your home sits on the market. This helps reduce any bad credit impacts.

For the disabled, the elderly, and low-income families, finding affordable housing can be stressful. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides housing choice vouchers to meet the needs of those in requiring housing assistance.

Regardless of age, disability, or income, nobody deserves to live in unsanitary or dangerous conditions. With housing choice vouchers, the family or individual needing shelter gets to take charge of their own search for a place to live. You may have read classified advertisements for apartments that say, “Section 8 accepted.” Section 8 is the commonly known term for the housing choice voucher.

Section 8 is a federally funded program. It allows families to select from a list of privately owned homes and apartments that are put up for rent by the owner. Eligibility is determined based on gross income and family size. Local public housing authorities determine the eligibility of those seeking housing.

What’s offered is a reduced monthly rent that the family can afford. Tenants are responsible for understanding and complying with their lease requirements as well as the housing choice voucher program terms. The residence must be kept in good condition and the public housing authority should immediately be notified is there are any changes in income or family members.

The first step to see if you’re qualified for Section 8 is to contact your local housing authority. A local HUD office will also be able to assist you with the first steps. Keep in mind that there are waiting lists and preference may be given to families who are homeless or involuntarily displaced.

A tenant living with a housing choice voucher may have to move or find larger housing. As long as the public housing authority is notified ahead of time, these changes are generally acceptable.
More information about Section 8 can be found at HUD.gov or GoSection8.com.

Habitat for humanity is one of the worlds largest and most extensive affordable housing projects. Habitat for humanity was started in 1976 by a wealthy lawyer and his wife, who believed that they should be using their wealth and opportunities to help other around the United States who were struggling to find safe and affordable housing.

Because of the success and hard work of all the volunteers and employee’s in the Habitat family, the non-profit organization has grown immensely and now has offices and programs running in 100 different countries across the world. Habitat for humanity is a great volunteer opportunity because it provides the volunteers with hands on experience with home building from the ground up, as well as, provides them with an opportunity to give back and be recognized for their hard efforts. Here are just a few ways that individuals can help Habitat for Humanity.

Three Volunteer Opportunities With Habitat For Humanity

1. Volunteer In Your Community- Habitat for Humanity offers a variety of volunteer opportunities including volunteering locally in the community. Habitat has programs that last anywhere from four days to two weeks and involves learning the carpentry trade, helping to renovate homes that have been damaged, and joining groups on a daily basis to go out and help at any Habitat event.

2. Volunteering In Your Country- Aside from volunteer opportunities in the community, Habitat also offers programs where individuals can travel across America for two to six months helping on different projects in different parts of the country.

3. Volunteering Over Seas- Because the success of the Habitat projects and its expansion overseas, now volunteers have the opportunity to travel to a foreign country for a certain amount of time to learn and be involved in the whole rebuilding process.

Habitat for Humanity is a great way to get involved and volunteer to make somebodies life better and more comfortable.

For many years private companies have been joining together to with public offices to create contracts for civil municipalities. Since the beginning of sub-division public offices have accepted bids for private trash, and recycling removal, as well as, power and water companies. This was done to bolster the private sector and take the burden of the government and tax payer to shoulder the costs of civil municipal projects.

Since the beginning of the most recent recession Americans all over the country have been losing their homes and apartments due to sub prime mortgage failures and with the state and federal government trying to take the reigns, the debt and displacement of Americans was only slightly improved. However, private companies all over the country saw the realization of all the countries debt swallowing up the capabilities of the government.

In order stop the bleeding and restore the housing economy, companies across the U.S. are teaming up with public services to hedge the costs of developing affordable homes that can be acquired with out sub prime mortgages. There are many benefits to a public/private partnership. Here are just a few.

Two Reasons Why Public/Private Partnerships Are Important

1. Hedge Costs- The initial costs of building subdivisions is immense and sometimes crippling. With the help of private companies the public organizations can defer some of the initial costs to the company with a promise to pay them back over time. This creates breathing room for not only the public entity but also drives down the cost of the housing for the individual.

2. Bolsters Economy- By creating jobs and building projects the economy sees an influx of cash flow that can be spent or saved, but helps to put money back in people pockets and delays the need for a higher tax. As well, allowing private companies to be a part of building projects bolsters capitalism.

The power of private companies and public entities working together will prove to be the future.

For years low income housing or “the projects” have been built in the inner city and for the most part right next to one another. Prior to the expansion of cities across the United States this was seen as the appropriate way to handle low income housing because it put patrons in the middle of the city with easy access to jobs and schools, however studies are now showing that this type of mentality only perpetuates the need for low income housing.

The understanding was that individuals who needed to live in low income housing could not afford to a car to commute from the suburbs every day or could not budget a bus pass. Also it gave children better access to schools which helped to ensure that those children would be able to make it to school every day. However, instead of providing opportunities for these indivuals or their children, researcher’s now say that this type of plan accomplishes just the opposite.

Instead of creating opportunities the housing projects perpetuate a life of low-income for everyone who lives in the area. Here are just a few aspects of the community that are affected by bundling low income housing projects.

Three Aspects Of The Community Affected By Bundling

1. Parents- Because of the proximity to the downtown area and so many people fighting for jobs in one area, parents find it hard to find good employment and a way to leave the projects.

2. Children- Because the low income is poorer taxes are either cheaper or subsidized by the state and federal government meaning the children have less materials in school and are provided with a less than desireable education than their counterparts in the suburbs.

3. Business Owners- Business owners in the area are affected by the mass of low income shoppers and thus it is harder for them to realize profits and move out of the low income area.

Researcher’s have found that projects breed more projects.

Since the collapse of Wall Street in late 2007, different government organizations have been joining together to combat the ever looming fear of poverty. With the loss of millions of jobs and the ability to feed their children many Americans turned to the government to help make up the differences that were lost in the collapse of so many important industries. However, thanks to the Recover Act of 2009, written shortly before the market bottomed out, millions of Americans were protected through various government programs and essentially saved from poverty.

The role of the government was vital in ensuring the millions of American’s would make it through the recession with out falling into poverty and seeing their lives pushed into disarray. Here are just a few of the government programs that aided those in trouble during the last year.

Three Government Aid Programs of Recovery Act

1. Federal Unemployment- Through the expansion of federal unemployment packages 1.3 million individuals were able to apply and receive money from the federal unemployment agency.

2. Child Tax Credits- Because of improvements and funds that bolstered child tax credits 1.5 million American families received aid for the taxes and expenditures related to child rearing.

3. Food Stamps- 700,000 families and individuals were helped through the implementation of more food stamp programs and ebt cards for struggling Americans all over the country.

According to the Census Bureau the Recovery Act of 2009 helped roughly 4.5 million Americans to stay above the poverty line and to continue to feed their families and themselves. Programs such as the Recovery Act are vital if not necessary to ensuring that all families have the same opportunities no matter how bad the economy gets. The people who are provided a better life know the importance of these programs when they look in the faces of their healthy children, every day.

When deciding to buy a home cost is most likely the most important aspect. It tells a person in what neighborhood they can afford to buy a home but it also tells a person what kind of home they can afford. Often times people choose to buy plots of land that they like and then they build a smaller house on the plot of land that they buy. Also, sometimes people may choose to knock down an existing home and rebuild the home of their dreams right on top of it.

However, whether you are building your dream home or lucky enough to find one that already has everything you want, it’s important to remember that when buying a home or anything like it, that getting the bang for your buck you want is what will make the difference between a dream home or a stressful mortgage.

Finding the most bang for the buck usually means looking geographically. Often the median income in large cities will be the same, but the prices of homes can be five to six, even seven times greater than the median income. Therefore for some people when looking for a new home means figuring out where to settle down and what will provide their family with the greatest amount of economic freedom while still leaving in a home that they love. Here some of the best priced cities for homes.

Cities Where Homes Affordable

1. Pittsburgh

2. Detroit

3. Cleveland

4. Indianapolis

5. Atlanta

6. Greensboro

7. Detroit

8. Dallas

These cities are some of the most affordable because they fall in a category close to the median income of families in these cities. That also means that not only can families purchase homes easier but can also pay them off quicker then other parts of the United States that can anywhere from 35 to 50 year mortgages.

The economic recession of the second half of this decade has placed many Americans of all backgrounds in the way of financial harm. However, from that desperation grew something amazing. Hundreds of thousands Americans from across the United States banning together to fight the first economic war of this century together. Because of organizations such as Rebuilding Together and Habitat for Humanity American citizens are volunteering to help and protect one another from the perils of poverty and the loss of a home.

Rebuilding Together, which is a noon-profit organization with hundreds of affiliations all over the world has been working tirelessly with its volunteers to provide a multitude of services to people from every walk of life. Here are just a few volunteer opportunities to get involved and help the less fortunate rebuild their lives.

Three Volunteer Opportunities From Rebuilding Together

1. National Rebuilding Day- An event held once a year in April that requires a year of planning and mobilizing. When the hoopla begins hundreds of thousands of volunteers hit the streets and start repairing homes for the elderly or handicapped and revitalizing building and neighborhoods.

2. Gulf Coast Operations- After Hurricane Katrina had displaced and condemned homes all over the Gulf Rebuilding Together sent in volunteers and still help to rebuild homes and move Katrina victims back into their homes where they can afford to keep paying their affordable housing costs.

3. Veterans Relief- Rebuilding Together sends thousands of volunteers out yearly to go to homes of disabled or elderly victims to address issues such as unsafe building or repairing anything that needs to be repaired in order to keep the home in a good and livable condition.

Rebuilding Together is important because it is a tool for mobilizing volunteers and help that have a genuine care in doing better in peoples lives and through the implementation of their volunteer opportunities create better lives for those in need.

Anyone who’s lived in a major city can most likely tell a person what’s it like to walk by a homeless person sitting on the sidewalk in the rain or snow. Once more alarming is that many people who have never lived or so much as stepped foot in a major city can explain what that feeling feels like. As the gap between lower class and the upper class continually becomes larger and larger more homeless citizens are taking to the streets. The effects of the sub-prime mortgage fiasco on the middle class citizen have pushed the government into creating and expanding more programs for tax payers.

However, if a person has not been able to work or pay taxes these incentives and programs the government created to help the working class are not felt by the homeless. As the numbers of homeless and those who are losing their homes increases their are certain agencies and people who are doing there part to lend a helping hand and support those who need it.

In Virginia the Supportive Housing coalition has been helping to feed, clothe, and put a roof over the head of the homeless and those affected by the economy. Here are just a few volunteer opportunities they provide.

Three Volunteer Opportunities Of The Virginia Supportive Housing Organization

1. Administrative and Agency Support- Working at the VSH headquarters doing clerical work and office duties.

2. Client- Work with the clients of VSH to promote connections and spread the overall message VSH.

3. Property Maintenance and Beautification- Working outside at sites, doing grounds work and keeping up the overall aesthetic of the VSH grounds.

Whether working in the office or keeping the grounds, volunteering opportunities at the VSH are important because they provide services to the homeless that other organizations don’t provide and it’s a great way to help homeless persons regain control of their life.
